Author Guidelines
Submission Declaration and Covering Letter
Submission of a manuscript to Journal of Scholarly Studies in Arts and Human Development (JSS-AHD) implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere including electronically in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent of the copyright-holder.
Please indicate this declaration in your covering letter in addition to brief description of your work and name of three-five potential reviewers.
Manuscripts and tables
In order to be processed by our production team, all files should be editable, prepared in an appropriate word processing package and saved as .doc. Please note: PDF (.pdf) is not a .doc file format and is therefore not an appropriate file type. Manuscripts should be double line spaced with 1.5 cm margins. Use 10pt Times New Roman font. Headings: main (section) headings [A] in bold sentence case; sub-headings [B] in italic sentence case; sub-sub-headings [C] in italic sentence case with the text continued on the same line.
Figures
The figures should be created using an appropriate graphic package and must be named in accordance with DOS conventions, for example 'figure: 1. Space in the printed version is limited, so please consider whether any of your figures (or tables) could be available online only. Further figures and tables can be provided on the web version of the journal.
The lines must not be thinner than 0.25 pts and in-fill patterns and screens must have a density of at least 10%. Labels should be in 10 point Times New Roman font. The best resolution for these images is between 600 and 1200 dpi. Photographs should be saved as high-resolution (300 dpi) files at 1.5 times the desired print size. Resolutions that are lower than 300 dpi may affect the quality of the output.
Permission to include other’s work
Permission to reproduce material within the manuscript must be obtained in advance by the corresponding author. Refer to the original publisher, who is responsible for managing the rights of the original author. Expect this to take up to six weeks. Once granted, upload a copy of the approval as a supporting file. An acknowledgement to the source must be made in your text.
General requirements
All submissions should include the following: Main document
1. Title and running head (short title);
2. Article category;
3. First name, middle initial (if any) and family name of all authors – no degrees or titles. All those listed as authors must fulfil the criteria – please see the ‘Authorship’ section of the Ethics Policy for further guidance.
4. Affiliations should be written after the authors list as follows: Department/Division/Unit name, if any; affiliation name/City (without state)/Country;
5. The correspondence should appear after the list of affiliations and should be presented in the following format: give only the title of the corresponding author (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., Prof.), followed by the first name(s) written with initials only and then the surname – for example J. E. Smith; include the name of the Department/Division/Unit, if applicable, together with the affiliation name, the street address, the city, the postal code, the country and the email address.
6. A structured abstract (summary for review papers);
7. Four to Six keywords
8. Main body containing sections on background, methods, results and conclusions, with the appropriate heading.
9. Disclosure/ Acknowledgements: Indicate at the end of the text before references:
* Any necessary ethical approval(s);
* The source of funding for the study; and
* Any conflict of interest.
10. A reference list in APA style (Shi, W., Cao, J., Zhang, (2006). Title. Journal Name, 3(7), 12-26.), in the order made in the text.
11. Tables – if appropriate, in tabulate text. Do not embed tables.
12. Figure legends – if appropriate, in a list following the references/ tables. (Figures must be uploaded additionally as individual graphic files. Please do not embed figures.)
